The Elementary Social Studies team has partnered with multiple local entities to provide additional real-world experiences and learning opportunities for our students.
Jamestown Settlement
Students in second and fourth grade, experience a field trip to the Jamestown Settlement and Museum.
- Second Grade: The Powhatan Village: students experience the Jamestown story through the lives of the Powhatan.
- Fourth Grade: Government and Leadership: Students experience the leadership of the Powhatan, English, and West Central African cultures and the development of the representative government in colonial Virginia.
American Revolution Museum
Students in fourth grade experience a field trip to the Yorktown Battlefields and the American Revolution Museum in Yorktown.
- Students explore life during the American Revolution, the impact of the Revolution on the people of America, and the development of the new nation.
The Mariners' Museum
Third Grade students explore ancient civilizations and their affect on our lives today.
