What are Career Pathways?

In Newport News, the Career Pathways initiative provides students with flexibility, relevance, and purpose for learning. Career Pathways assists students in setting goals, offers work-based learning experiences, and provides a seamless transition from high school to postsecondary opportunities.

Pathways are comprised of interrelated courses, as well as curricular, extra-curricular, and service learning experiences. NNPS has selected individual career pathways based upon local market needs in the Hampton Roads area and student interests.

Career pathway development is based upon educational framework research conducted by the U.S. Department of Education. For a complete list of all available career options, explore this site or see your school counselor.
