Aviation Academy is WHRO's High School of the Month

(May 8, 2009) - Aviation Academy has been selected as the High School of the Month for WHRO's May 2009 "School Talk Monthly" program, a 30-minute magazine program for educators.

This national award-winning program features video clips and Internet sites for teachers to use, which are correlated to Virginia Standards of Learning. One-on-one interviews with outstanding educators and students, on-location segments highlighting exciting school projects and activities and upcoming professional development events are also featured.

Each month four local schools (elementary, middle, high, and independent) are recognized as Schools of the Month. Schools are selected based on academic achievement or for community service activities. WHRO staff reviews school web sites each month to determine the selections. Aviation Academy was selected as the High School of the Month for the May 2009 program, and Warwick High School was previously selected in February 2009.

"School Talk Monthly" airs the first and third Friday from 2:00-2:30 p.m. and the first and third Sunday from 2:00-2:30 p.m. September–May on WHRO-TV. You can also view School Talk online via video streaming at the program's web site, www.schooltalk.org.
