Huntington students continue to excel
in after-school activities
Middle school student joins cast in
Colonial Williamsburg program
February 12, 2008 -- Rosetta Smith, a broadcast communication
student at Huntington Middle School, will become a cast member as
Narrator #2 in “Freedom Bound” sponsored by The Colonial
Williamsburg Foundation Electronic Field Trip Program. The series
will present stories from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. These
stories will examine options and obstacles encountered by enslaved
men and women seeking to gain their freedom.
“Freedom Bound” will be broadcast on PBS stations nationwide
in February 2009. Rosetta’s involvement is part of Colonial
Williamsburg’s national outreach education endeavor, and the
program is a production of the Education Outreach Department of
the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s division of Productions,
Publications, and Learning Ventures.
Huntington Middle School students continue to excel in after-school
activities to include various club activities. The school's goal
is to continue to engage youth in enriching experiences at school
that is part of the initiative for youth development through extra-curricular
activities initiated by Newport News Public Schools Superintendent,
Dr. Ashby Kilgore.
