Parents encouraged to register
now
January 31, 2008 -- Kindergarten registration is underway
in Newport News Public Schools. To help ensure that schools and
students are well prepared for the first day of school, Newport
News residents are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
If your child will be five years old by September 30, 2008, visit
your neighborhood Newport News public elementary school any Monday
through Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to begin the registration
process. Students turning five in October, November, or December
2008 will not enter kindergarten, but may be eligible for First
Step, a pre-kindergarten Title I program. For more information about
First Step, please call 881-5461, ext. 183.
To find out which school serves your neighborhood, visit the school
division web site (www.nnschools.org) and click “School Zone
