School Leaders Licensure Assessment

Effective July 1, 2005, individuals seeking an endorsement in Administration and Supervision will be required to take and pass the School Leaders Licensure Assessment.  The "cut" score of 165 has been established by the State Board of Education as Virginia 's passing score for the School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA). For information regarding registration, test administration, fees, etc., please visit the Educational Testing Services Web site.

Preschool Partners, Smart Beginnings
Preschool Partners is a non-profit organization serving Newport News and Hampton. We need volunteers who would like to become involved in the new Virginia Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) for preschools and child care providers serving children birth to five. More information on this volunteer opportunity.

GED Instructor Positions Available
The GED Instructor is responsible for teaching classes to high school GED candidates ages 16-19. Positions are part-time and a Bachelor’s degree is required with a minimum of three years teaching experience. GED experience is preferred and a candidate must have a minimum score of 450 on OPT for the subjects he or she will teach. A current teaching license is preferred. AVID Tutor Positions Available
AVID is a college preparatory program in which middle and high school students become the facilitators of their own academic success. Tutors work approximately three to twenty hours per week between the hours of 7:30 am and 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. Tutors must possess at least 20 credit hours of successful college experience, with at least a 2.5 grade point average; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the noted knowledge, skills, and abilities. Most tutors work at more than one school and must provide their own transportation. For application and further details, please contact Gayle Phillips at 591-7406.
