A free, Registered-Nurse staffed telephone service to
the Peninsula citizens to provide health information, community
service referrals and physician referrals available 24 hours
a day, 7 days a week. Riverside Health System sponsors this
service.
First Call (Call 757 594-4636)
A free community referral service sponsored by the United
Way of the Virginia Peninsula for Peninsula citizens to access
community service referrals.

American
Academy of Pediatrics
American Academy of Pediatrics provides cutting-edge
information on child health and parenting. The site also features
materials in Spanish.
Zero to Three
Zero to Three offers a wealth of research-based child development
and parenting resources related to infants and toddlers. The
site also includes "Songs Rhymes and Fingerplays in English
and Spanish," as well as articles about grandparenting and
fatherhood.
National Association for the Education of Young Children
The National Association for the Education of Young
Children website includes many articles on parenting, early
education, child development, and child care issues. Some
are available in Spanish.

Al-anon/Alateen
Al-anon/Alateen assists families and friends of alcoholics:
"No matter what relationship you have with an alcoholic, whether
they are still drinking or not, all who have been affected
by someone else's drinking can find solutions that lead to
serenity in the Al-Anon/Alateen fellowship." The site offers
educational materials (also in Spanish and French) as well
as self-test questionnaires, a hotline, and the ability to
search for meeting locations in the U.S., Canada, and other
countries.

This site includes information on the SAT's, college board
exams, and financial aid options for funding a college education.

MISS Foundation
The MISS Foundation is a volunteer-based non-profit organization
that aids families after the death of a child from any cause.
Their website includes many articles and resources for parents
and other adults, and also features materials to help grieving
children, as well as some materials in Spanish. MISS also
works on "legislative and advocacy issues, community engagement
and volunteerism, and culturally competent, multidisciplinary,
education opportunities."

events are also available on-line.
Learning Disabilities Association
The Learning Disabilities Association offers information and
advocacy for people with learning disabilities and their family
members. They provide support for parents and assistance with
navigating educational and mental health systems.
National Institute of Mental Health
The National Institute of Mental Health provides educational
resources on all common mental health disorders, and features
many articles in Spanish.
